Well, I survived another week! Only 7 more to go! :P
Truthfully, this has been a pretty uneventful week. But at this point uneventful is good, since eventful just tends to be stressful. ;)
It was a pretty laid back week in terms of classes. I had a calculus test on Thursday. I think that went ok. I know I got points off on some things, but I feel pretty good about it overall.
My exroommate Maryne got her citizenship on Monday! :) I got her a card and a DVD as a surprise congrats gift. The DVD was actually supposed to be her Xmas present, but never showed up, so I just bought it for her for this occasion. :) On Friday I hung out with Maryne and we watched "Must Love Dogs." I seriously love this movie!!! I love the dialogue, and it has such a good rewatch quality! :) I want to watch it again even though I have seen it about 4 times in the past week, lol.
Saturday I hung out with Amber at her apartment. She bought the new Kareoke Revolution for Playstation, so we did that for awhile with her roommates. We went thrift storing, but I didn't find any ponies except for a McDs G3 Butterscotch, who I picked up for 31 cents. Then we rented "In Her Shoes." I wouldn't recomend that one; it wasn't very interesting at all.
Today the weather was beautiful, so instead of being productive and finishing my last formal lab report for optics class, I went roller blading with Maryne. :) And I only fell down once, lol! Pretty good for someone who didn't get their first pair of roller blades until they were 16, and even then only skated in circles on the driveway. ;) I still don't know how to stop, so I just have to find a pole to grab or a patch of grass to dive into if halting is necessary. ;)
I had my first night of DC training for next year. Mostly just watched Sarah (the current DC) do the money stuff while she explained it to us. It doesn't look too hard. :) I'll definitely be able to handle that. I'm more nervous about hiring people, but that's not for a little while yet.
I got to talk with Diane, one of the ladies I work with at the bank back home. She called tonight while I was working on some homework and filled me in on all the gossip at the bank. I'll cut this paragraph, since it won't mean anything to you guys anyways. ( Read more... )
I guess that's about all I've got to report for this week! *grin* I need more boring weeks like this... |

*headdesk* GAH! My Optics lab is a major pain! It's a writing emphasis course, so every week we have to do lab reports. The lab is only worth one credit, but the lab reports take me 4+ hours every week! It takes up almost my entire Sunday! It's only week three and I'm really really sick of it. >.<
Another woe, it has been FREEZING here the past few days! We got a ton of snow Wednesday night into Thursday, and then the temperature plummeted. Today wasn't so bad (high of 15 F), but I don't think it got much above 0 yesterday. And it looks like it's going to be staying cold for awhile. :(
*sigh* Now that that's all off my chest... :P
Tomorrow is my date from the date auction. :) Don't know what the plan is, but it should be interesting. I'll let you all know how it goes in my next update.
I think my Calculus test of doom went ok on Thursday. I know I made a few mistakes, but I'm sure I did better than I did on the last quiz! I should find out my score on Monday.
Wednesday I had my interview for Desk Coordinator. I think that went pretty well, and I have a pretty good shot at a position since there are 6 openings and only 9 people applied. Tuesday is my RA interview. That should be set up almost exactly the same as the DC interview, so I will be ahead of the game now. :)
Next weekend I'm doing Relay for Life. I'm on a team with some other girls from my wing (and a few other people that I don't know). It sounds like they are going to have some really neat events going on during the Relay: DDR Competitions, hat making, a local band (Tyler *heart* and Andy), and a ton of other stuff. :) I've raised over $200 for that. I'm quite proud of myself, especially since I loathe asking people for money, even when it is for a really good cause.
Anyways, it's time to try and finish my evil Optics report. :P Have a great week! :) |

Well, I've lost track of what number update this is, but I guess that's a good thing. :) Updating my journal is becoming easier! :) I got my applications for the Desk Coordinator and Resident Assistant positions in on Friday. I have my DC interview this Wednesday and my RA interview next Tuesday (21st). Wish me luck! I'm pretty confident that I will end up with one of the positions, but I don't know which. I put down DC as my first choice, but I would be thrilled with either. :) The only thing that would make me a teensy bit unhappy would be getting a position in Coate hall, the all freshman dorm... But I guess I could deal with that if it happened. I would just prefer that it didn't. Yesterday I attended a leadership conference here on campus. I thought it was very well organized and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I went to four work shops. The first was a presentation about AIDS and HIV put on by my old roommate (my favorite person in the world!). I got to put a condom on a banana and everything, lol. The second was kinda lame, so I won't waste your time talking about that one. The third was excellent!! It was called "Discover your Superpower" and it was about identifying your talents and leadership style. Mine was Harmony: "You look for areas of agreement. In your view there is little to be gained from conflict and fiction, so you seek to hold them to a minimum." The fourth workshop was about Marriage. I went to that one cause my ex-roomie and her current roomie (another of my favorite people in the world) went to that one. Three of the hall directors here on campus that are married talked about some of the challenges they faced. They did a really good job presenting it, and I got some useful information for when I find myself in a relationship. :) And as a thank you for attending the conference, I got juggling balls! Yay! I have to learn how to juggle without knocking everything in the dorm room over now. ^_^* We had our first Hall Council (all hall meeting) tonight. They were done away with this year and replaced with just wing meetings, but now we are having monthly Hall Councils also. I must say that I really missed Hall Council and I'm super glad to have it back! It's a great chance to see people in the hall that you don't see often or don't know very well. Tonight after hall council we had a date auction to raise money for a student here who has leukemia. We raised about $115! :) I bought a date for $6. *grin* I kinda know the guy, but I haven't talked to him much before. He's a bit of an individual, I think. Very much the polar opposite of me. It's for a good cause though, so... *shrugs* ^_^* But now it is back to the grindstone. I have my fist exam in Calc (IV) this week. And after the last quiz (12/20 baby!) I am really worried about it. I will just have to make sure I set aside enough time to study for it. I'm sure you'll hear about it in my next update though. Until then! |

| Semester II Year II |
[Jan. 29th, 2006|05:27 pm] |
Here is the promised journal update! Yay!!!
This semester I am taking 5 classes for 17 credits: Chemistry II (which includes lecture, discussion, and lab) Optics (which includes lecture and lab) Calculus IV Statics Spanish - Current Events
I can say that I will definitely be busy studying a LOT this semester! Optics, Chemistry, and Calculus will be my toughest classes. I should be able to push through Calc and Chem just fine studying on my own, but I'm a little worried about Optics, but the professor seems very nice and I'm sure he'll be willing to help if I go in and talk to him when I have problems. :)
I am fairly impressed with all my professors thus far as well. The only one I'm not sure about is the Statics prof, who isn't actually a professor but an engineer who works for a company around here and is teaching the class. We only had one meeting in that class so far since he was gone the first day at a conference, but he just went really really slow through all the material. And the fact that I think he moved too slow, considering that I haven't had any physics for a year and a half, means he was REALLY slow. Hopefully things get more interesting there.
I have come to the conclusion that math professors are inherently quirky and addicted to coffee. For example, my prof this semester has a very expressive voice. One of my friends accurately described it as a "vocal roller coaster ride." And the class is at 2:00 in the afternoon, but he still brings a cup of coffee with him. :) I really like the pace he sets for the class though.
As for my life non-class wise, yesterday was nice because my roommate and I actually hung out and talked. It feels like it's been a long long time since we got to do that without her boyfriend or someone else around. We watched Lilo and Stitch, ate ice cream, went for a walk, and talked. :) It made me happy.
And on Friday I went shopping with my ex-roommate (roommate from last year, love her to death!). I always love hanging out with her. When I'm around her, I just can't help but feel happy about everything! :)
So all in all, back to school has been pretty good. :) I will keep trying to write weekly updates so those of you on my f-list (small as it may be) can maybe get to know me a little. :) |

Woot! I've got grave yard (midnight to 3:00) at the front desk in my res hall tonight. And this one drunk guy has been standing here talking to me for an hour! lol! Gotta love drunk people. ;)
I remember why I'm glad I don't drink now. ;) |

| The New SI Unit |
[Oct. 4th, 2005|08:26 pm] |
I have created a new unit of measurement. It is called the shit. It is derived from the well known measurment known as a "shit-load." However, a shit is much larger than a shit-load. Consequently, in order to save time in describing what has to be done, very large shit-loads are called shits.
...
Random, I know. I accidentally said "shit" the other day when I meant to say "shit-load." I thought it was fitting as it takes less time to say, and therefore leaves one with more time to take care of the shit one has to do. This amused me so much that I decided to make a lj post about it... :P
Also, I apologize for the repeated use of profanity in this post. It is fairly out of character for me, and chances are you won't see it again. ;) |

| Test Woes |
[Sep. 29th, 2005|11:48 pm] |
*cries* The calculus test did not go well. I'm really upset about that too. I walked in feeling pretty confident, and I left hoping that I pulled off a C. The test was just too long! I knew how to do everything on it, but I needed more time to be able to think the problems through and work the math out. So there were about 3 questions I didn't really even get to attempt, and another two or so that I'm fairly sure I will get points taken off for missed steps and such. *sigh* Hopefully it will be on a curve. :(
Three more to go... Hopefully tomorrow's go better. I think they should. I've been studying all this week for chemistry, and biology and Spanish should be pretty easy.
And I am going home tomorrow. :D Even though I won't get to see my sister (it's homecoming weekend, so she will be out and about with friends all weekend). I just need to go home to unwind and get out of the school routine. |

| I've been tagged! |
[Sep. 8th, 2005|01:55 pm] |
jellostar tagged me! So I must write 20 facts about myself. :)
1. I like small spaces, especially for sleeping. They make me feel safe and cozy.
2. If I could be any animal, I would be a grizzly bear because (1)they live in the mountains (and I love the mountains), (2) they hibernate through winter (I don't like winter but I do like sleeping), and (3) they give birth to their cubs while they are hibernating. So I would go to sleep in the winter and wake up in the spring with cute little fuzzy bear cubs! :)
3. I love Jack Johnson's music.
4. I'm not a big jewelery fan. I have only 3 different necklaces that I alternate between and then I wear my cousin's memorial bracelet and my watch.
5. I like socks. :) They make my feet look pretty.
6. I have pig slippers.
7. While I love My Little Ponies, real horses kind of scare me.
8. I like veggies. (Even Brussel Sprouts, LNS! ;) )
9. However I do not like onions. They have a terrible texture!
10. I don't like Starbursts or Skittles.
11. My favorite TV show is Stargate SG-1.
12. I have really soft teeth. I brush and floss religiously and I still get cavities! :(
13. I like having a fan on when I fall asleep.
14. I have purple leopard print sheets on my bed. :)
15. My favorite Disney movie is Aladdin.
16. I have never been outside the US, but I want to travel to Spain next summer.
17. I speak quite a bit of Spanish. I am taking my 6th year of classes in Spanish.
18. I sing when I'm along in my car (and sometimes when I'm with other people in the car too...).
19. I am taking Calculus III this semester... O.o
20. My favorite color is green. :)
I won't tag anyone else, but if anyone wants to do it, the directions are: Write 20 random facts about yourself then tag the same amount of people as minutes it takes you to write the facts. If you're tagged its your turn.
Enjoy! :) |

| Dum Dum De Dum!! |
[Aug. 22nd, 2005|04:36 pm] |
Saturday, August 20 my cousin got married! Charity was the second Witmer cousin to get married, but the first one to have a big wedding we could all attend (Justin was over in Turkey when he got married!). It was a blast! I hope more of my cousins get married soon. ;)
Background info on the Witmer family & how "New life makes losing life easier to understand": My dad was one of 9 kids, 8 of which now have children of their own, so I have a big extended family. :) Even though the Witmers are spread out all over the country, we are all very close.
In early 2003, Rachel and Michelle's National Guard unit was deployed to Iraq. (Rachel is Charity's older sister and Michelle is her identical twin.) Charity joined them overseas in December of that same year. But before leaving, she met her future husband, Tony, who was a part of her same National Guard unit. Just four days before Rachel and Michelle were scheduled to return home, Michelle was killed in action.I won't go into details, but you can imagine how hard of a blow this was to everyone.
For me, this wedding brought closure to everything that has happened the past couple of years. I'm so happy that even in the terrible aftermath of Michelle's death, Charity was able to find love. Somehow, welcoming Tony to the family helps fill the emptiness left by Michelle's absence.
Anyways, that's enough of the depressing part of the Witmer history. Back to the happier present.
The ceremony started at 2:00. I had promised myself I wouldn't cry and I did pretty well up until the vows. Almost everyone was sniffling by that time though, so I didn't feel too bad. ;) Rachel sang "When You Say Nothing at All" at the end of the ceremony. She has a such a beautiful voice that I nearly started crying again while she was singing. Rachel has always been very self conscious of singing in front of people. I hope this experience was a positive one for her and that she will not be so shy to share her talent at other occasions. :)
Of course, Charity's dress was absolutely stunning. She recounted trying on dresses and knowing this was the one when she tripped up the stool to the mirror. She said she knew that that was Michelle telling her this was the dress she was supposed to have.
The reception was held in a hotel not far away. I sat with a bunch of my cousins for dinner, 3 of which live out of state so I don't get to see very often. It was great to catch up with them. I can't believe how old my cousin Trisha is starting to look! She's only 14, but she could easily pass as at least 16. And now I want to set my cousin Kevin up with my roommate from last semester. ;)
After dinner, we all danced the night away! :D My sister had two boys following her around by the end of the night and left with one of their phone numbers, lol! I'm not surprised by that at all though... I really need to get her to let me in on how she does it! :P~
We stayed over in the hotel and had breakfast with the other Witmers that stayed too. It was an awesome weekend that I know I will never forget! Hopefully there will be more events like this one in the near future. After all, I still have 15 other un-wed Witmer cousins... ;D |

Yesterday I went to my cousin's wedding! It was a beautiful ceremony and an awesome party, plus I got to see all my relatives that I love more than any other people on Earth. But I stayed up too late and got up too early, so now I am going to take a nap and you will all have to wait till later to hear more about it. :P |

| Q & A |
[Aug. 7th, 2005|04:42 pm] |
Hey all! So I know I'm kinda quiet in my journal... I just don't feel inspired to write my day to day rants and I'm not going throught any major changes in my life at this point, so there's not a lot to talk about. :P I feel that I've gotten to know those of you on my friends list just by reading your entries and I want to give you the chance to get to know me too! So if there is anything you would like to know about me, post and ask! :) I do reserve the right to pass if any of your questions make me uncomforable, but I highly doubt I will need to use it. :) |

| Cake! |
[Jul. 27th, 2005|09:36 pm] |
I made a cake for the Arena's MLP Cake Contest. :) http://www2.propichosting.com/Images/501589/1.JPG Hopefully you can tell that it is Dream Castle. I used two rectangular pans for the main part of the castle and then used cupcakes to build the towers. I used sugar cubes to make the stones that line the top of the castle (can't think of their proper name :p ). I built hoops/jumps out of round pretzels and vanilla wafers and decorated the whole castle with petite ponies! *grin* Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest! It took forever to decorate, and it was dark out by the time it was finished and I could take a picture! :P But it was a lot of fun to make, and it tastes really good too. *weg*

a;lkjelihangl;kaj!!! >.<
Does no one restore G1 ponies anymore!? I am trying to find out the differences between Remove Zit and Oxy for getting stains off ponies and I am not getting any responses. >.< Maybe I'm just being too impatient... But I posted yesterday on the TP, and I only have 9 views... It is the only post from Friday or today that only has single digit views... *sigh* /rant.
Went swimming today! :) My sister went too, and she actually swam. She didn't just sit on her high and mighty floatie refusing to get wet like she usually does.
I have a confession to make: I lied. Not to any of you. To one of my friends who wanted me to go with her to visit her friends from college. I would have gone, but the city she was going to is 2 hours away. :P Plus I don't even know her friends. So I told her I was going to my aunt's house for dinner. You may ask, why did I lie? This friend does not like to take no for an answer. She will argue with you for hours trying to persuade you to do what she wants. The only way you can get out of doing something she wants is if you absolutely can't. So I lied. I make no apologies though. And I really don't feel bad about it. I just wanted to post and get it off my mind. :P
But now I must go watch the season premier of STARGATE!!!!!! Woo-hoo! I shall post details later. *grin* |

| Minnesota |
[Jul. 11th, 2005|11:10 am] |
I'm back from my long weekend in Minnesota! :) The trip was actually a lot of fun, but it's nice to be home again. :)
We left about 9:00 Thursday morning and got to our hotel at about 3:30 or 4:00. We hung out in the pool for a little while and just relaxed the rest of the night. Friday was our shopping day! We spent all day at the Mall of America. I got a few shirts, a pair of jeans, and a new pair of Sketchers shoes. *luvs them* And then Saturday I went to the pony fair! It was amazing to see all those ponies in one place! Luckily we didn't have the troubles driving there that some people did. I bought lots of ponies. I'll post pictures of them later when I upload my pictures to the computer. I do wish I would have been more sociable at the fair, but I was feeling kind of shy so I didn't really talk to too many people. Friday night we went to see War of the Worlds and OMG, that movie so unbelievably good!!! Not a dull moment in it! This one is totally worth seeing in the theaters! Oh yeah, and we rented Hide and Seek from the hotel's Pay per View listings. Not sure I liked that one as much... Can't put my finger on it as to why, but I don't think I'll watch that one again any time soon.
And now I'm back! Did I miss anything important? Hope you are all doing well! :) |
